STEP 3: Create a Plan

You must develop a strategy as to how you will present your site, encourage people to visit and once there, buy your product, use your service, subscribe to your newsletter or any other action you have planned for them to take.

Presenting Your Site

The website should be user-friendly, not overly fussy so that it will confuse your visitor.  Avoid too many links or making your visitor navigate away from the page – they may not come back.    Avoid fancy graphics and animations that may look cool.  In general they are preferred by designers – not users, as they slow download time.
If your visitor has to wait excessively long for the information they seek to download, they will leave your site.

“The most successful websites are the
simplest.”

The same look and feel should be used throughout the site, i.e., text, graphics and photos should be displayed in a similar style on all pages  throughout the website.  The style should be professional in appearance, pleasing to the eye and appropriate to the intended audience.

Marketing Your Website

It’s all fine and well having the most professional looking website, but if no-one knows its there then it is a waste of resources.  You must get people to visit your site.  Search Engine Optimisation, Ad campaigns, Forums, Web Directories, Blogs, RSS Feeds etc. are all excellent ways of getting your product / service into the public domain.

Call To Action

When you have people visiting your website what do you expect them to do?.
They admire it and say how great it looks and how good your product or service is.  But what next?  There must be a Call to Action, either a contact form, “Buy Now” option, subscribe to mailing list / newsletter.

Monitor, Review and Improve

How do you intend to monitor site activity and success?  Have you a plan as to how you will implement improvements?

STEP 4: Take Action

You can’t just sit back and expect the phone to ring or the orders to fly in.  You must now act on your above plan
and stick to it.  It’s not good enough to do it once and forget about it – it’s an ongoing process!

STEP 5: Review

Probably the most important aspect once you are up and running is to constantly review the success, or lack of, of your website.  We need to look at the number of visitors you are attracting.  How they found and came to your site.  Are they biting?  It’s no good to you having hundreds of visitors if no-one is using your service.

Conclusion

We can help and guide you through all of the above aspects. There are some ongoing aspects we can manage for you.
